Δ Delta Symbol (Uppercase)
Uppercase delta (Δ) means “change in” — e.g. Δx is the change in x; the identical-looking ∆ (U+2206) is the increment sign.

How to type Δ (Delta Symbol (Uppercase))
Windows
Type 0394 then Alt + X in Word, or press Alt + 916 on the numeric keypad, or use the Win + . symbol panel and search “delta”.
Mac⌥ + J
Option + J gives ∆ (the increment sign, U+2206) — identical in look. For the exact Greek letter Δ, use Character Viewer and search “greek capital letter delta”.

Usage
- Δ means “change in”: Δx is the change in x, ΔT a change in temperature.
- In math it denotes a difference or the discriminant of a quadratic, b² − 4ac.
- Note: the identical-looking ∆ (U+2206) is the increment sign; Mac's Option + J types that one.
