ρ Rho Symbol
Lowercase rho (ρ) is the Greek letter used for density in physics and for correlation in statistics.
Also known as: rho symbol, density symbol, symbol for density, greek small letter rho.

How to type ρ (Rho Symbol)
Windows
In Microsoft Word, type 03C1 then Alt + X. In other apps, open the emoji/symbol panel with Win + . (period) and search “rho”, or copy from above. (There is no classic Alt + number code for ρ.)
Mac⌥ + R
Press Option + r.
Microsoft Word03C1, Alt + X
Type 03C1, then press Alt + X to convert it to ρ.
Google Docs
Insert → Special characters, then search “rho” — or inside an Equation type \rho.
LaTeX\rho
Use \rho in math mode (\varrho gives the curly variant ϱ).
Usage
- In physics ρ is density: ρ = m/V, mass divided by volume.
- In statistics ρ is the population correlation coefficient (Spearman's rank correlation is also written ρ).
- Note: uppercase rho is Ρ (U+03A1) — visually identical to a Latin P, which is why it is almost never used on its own.
