How to type γ (Gamma Symbol)
Windows
In Microsoft Word, type 03B3 then Alt + X. In other apps, open the emoji/symbol panel with Win + . (period) and search “gamma”, or copy from above. (Alt + 226 gives the uppercase Γ, not γ.)

Microsoft Word03B3, Alt + X
Type 03B3, then press Alt + X to convert it to γ.
Google Docs
Insert → Special characters, then search “gamma” — or inside an Equation type \gamma.
LaTeX\gamma
Use \gamma in math mode (\Gamma for uppercase Γ).
Usage
- In physics γ denotes gamma radiation — high-energy photons emitted in nuclear decay.
- In relativity γ is the Lorentz factor, γ = 1/√(1 − v²/c²).
- Uppercase Γ (U+0393) is the gamma function, Γ(n) = (n − 1)! for positive integers.
- Note: the trefoil ☢ (U+2622) is the radiation hazard sign — a different symbol from the letter γ.
